Maria and I decided to spend Monday night at the labor and delivery room at Banner Gateway Hospital after she had been in a car accident hours earlier. Fun, eh?
Maria was on her way home from work for lunch when the car in front of her braked suddenly to make a right hand turn. Maria braked and came to a stop and the driver behind her was unable to do the same. The other driver said that he just was not paying attention. After they had pulled off the road into a parking lot Maria called the police and then me (eight times to be exact - I had left my phone in the car). After retrieving my phone I called her and learned what had happened. I left work and went to where they were still waiting for the police to arrive. When I got there Maria and the other driver said they had been waiting for an hour and Maria was uncomfortable waiting. I suggested to the guy that we call his insurance and make the claim now and we could both provide information and leave with out a police report.
We did just that and called Maria's doctor. She said that although Maria was not feeling any pain and could feel Davis moving around that she should go to the hospital and have a check up just in case. After more than two hours in the hospital we left having been reassured that all is OK. If nothing else we got to spend the afternoon together and get an extra ultrasound.
The ultra sound tech was so nice and after taking all the measurements she needed I asked if she could get a profile shot of Davis. The tech humored us and spent an extra five or ten minutes showing us his hands, feet, face, nose, and more. We got to see Davis play with his feet and watch his hick-ups. It was fun.
And if you are wondering about the truck it is fine. I had my bike rack on the back that took most the damage (which is cool because the bike had already been stolen!) and the window in the camper shell shattered. All together I think it is only about $300 worth of damage. The other guys gar on the other hand will be pretty costly. The bike rack basically cut through his bumper, grill, and radiator, buckling the hood a bit on the way.

It's good to hear all it well! Let us know if we can help you with anything!
That is always my fear of someone running into the back of me, I hate the sound of breaks trying to stop fast!!!!! Glad your okay and that everything will be okay...
Very scary. I am glad Maria and Davis are fine. That is crazy that it took the police that long to get there. What a pain.
I am so glad you two decided to go in so Maria and baby Davis could be checked out. Sometimes injuries and problems aren't immediately recognized - better safe than sorry.
So very glad to know they both checked out just fine and espeically glad you two were able to see your little guy from the front side for a change!
