School-ARAMA

I'm not talking "Rock Appreciation and Theory!"

This Monday Jake and I are about to embark on a educational roller coaster. Since Jake was laid off we have been planning for him to take 4 classes at a time (6 week classes) so that he could graduate in August 2009. This means that he is going to have to eat, breath, and sleep school work over the next 6 months. However, it will allow him to enter the work force with a Bachelors of Business Administration. I am so proud of what he has done so far, this last quarter he did very well in his classes with an "A" and a "B". He is a natural for business and management.

I also am going to continue on with my education pursuits. Since graduating with my Bachelors of Business I have had the bug to keep going on to the Masters. However, the thought of doing an MBA did not sound enticing. I like business but don't want to research about it extensively. I originally wanted to go back and get my RN license, however, with the work situation it would be impossible at this time. In the meantime I am going to earn my Masters of Health care Administration. I think it is going to be interesting with the changes that are going to happen over the next few years with the new president. I want to be able to help to overcome these challenges and bring about positive social change in the health care sector. Wish us luck!

Day Trip

Saturday Maria and I decided to get out of the house and do something fun and cheap. We loaded up the boy and went to Tortilla Flat and Canyon Lake for the day. Last time I went to Tortilla Flat the place was dead. We were the only people there and had full run of the place including the ladies room. Saturday, though, was a mad house! There were so many people and so much going on. I wanted to try the "World Famous Chili" but there was a 45 minute wait for a table! We left shortly after arriving and went up to the Lake Side Cafe near the Dolly Steamboat and had a good (but less than "World Famous") lunch there.

You can see in the photos (that were taken with our wonderful pocket sized digital camera - thanks Aunt Ogie!) that we had a good time. The weather was great and Davis was so good the entire day. You can see that Davis had a costume change at some point during the day... that is because he managed to fill his diaper to capacity then some!

News from the Boyle House!

Let it be known that at 10:07 pm on the 13th day of the second month of the year 2009 the last tile was laid in our basement. There are so many people who helped and so many that we need to thank. For fear of forgetting someone I am not going to list everyone here but they all know who they are and what they have done to help. As soon as the other little projects get finished up (i.e. cleaning, painting, moving furniture, hanging doors, replacing the toilet, and the list goes on) we will have to have another party and have everyone over!

Another huge project that got finished up over the weekend that pertains to the finishing of the basement was the baseboards. I had two friends from church and my little brother come over and we knocked out all the baseboards and door trim in just over three hours. We then moved the equipment and laborers over to another guys house and whipped out baseboards at his house as well.
